Five generations of family craftsmanship
right here in your community.
Serving Dennis Since 1931
If you live or own a business in Dennis — whether that's Dennis Village, Dennisport, East Dennis, South Dennis, or West Dennis — you already know how much the Cape's coastal climate demands from your property. Sandy soils, salt air, nor'easters, and harsh winters take a real toll on lawns, trees, and landscapes year after year.
John G. Sears & Son has been caring for Dennis properties since 1931. We're not a company that showed up last season — we're your neighbors, and we know exactly what Cape Cod properties need to thrive through every season. From weekly lawn maintenance and seasonal yard cleanup to full landscape redesigns and winter snow removal, our team is ready to help.

John G. Sears & Son has been serving Dennis and the surrounding Cape Cod communities since 1931. We've watched this town grow and change — and we've been caring for its properties through every season, every storm, and every new chapter along the way.
What We Do
Dennis Village is Old Cape Cod at its most authentic — Route 6A sea captain homes, centuries-old stone walls, Chapin Memorial Beach, and gardens that in some cases have been growing longer than our company has been around. The work here rewards patience. The shade trees are massive and the root systems run deep; the historic properties along the bay have been shaped by salt air and hard winters for so long that the landscape practically has its own memory. We know how to maintain it without undoing what took decades to build.

When you hire Sears, you're not hiring a contractor.
You're hiring a neighbor
who has earned the trust of Dennis families for nearly a century.
Dennisport moves at a different pace than the north side of Dennis — Route 28, the Nantucket Sound waterfront, a busy mix of year-round homes, seasonal cottages, and commercial properties. Lawns here take a beating through the summer and need to look good coming out of it. The south-facing exposure means more heat stress and faster soil drainage, so irrigation timing and fertilization programs matter more than people expect. We've been working this stretch of the Cape long enough to know what a Dennisport lawn needs in April and what it needs in September.

East Dennis is one of the quieter corners of the Cape — Sesuit Harbor, Quivett Neck, larger lots tucked back from the bay with the kind of privacy that takes time to cultivate. The properties here tend to be well-established, and so are their landscapes. What that usually means for us is careful, considered work: ornamental pruning timed to the season, protecting root systems that have been spreading for twenty years, and knowing when to leave something alone. If you have a property in East Dennis that needs a crew that will take it seriously, that's what we do.
Get a Free QuoteSouth Dennis is the residential heart of the town — established neighborhoods, older homes, the Swan Pond River corridor, and the Indian Lands Conservation Area nearby. It's the part of Dennis where people actually live year-round, and their properties show it. Mature trees, deep leaf volume in the fall, shrub borders that have been growing for thirty years, lawns with real history. The work here is less about dramatic transformations and more about consistent, knowledgeable care — knowing the property, knowing the soil, and showing up when it matters.

West Dennis Beach draws people from all over the Cape, but the residential neighborhoods behind it are quietly one of the nicest places to own property on the south side of Dennis. The salt air off Nantucket Sound is a real factor here — it limits what you can grow in exposed areas and makes irrigation and fertilization programs more important than they'd be a few miles inland. We've done enough work in West Dennis to know which plantings survive and which ones don't, and we put that knowledge to use on every property we maintain here.
